So we're now on Day 10 of our home quarantine.

We celebrated the half-way point with Special Saturday.

Special breakfast: Cinnamon apples and almond pancakes. And -- as there's no sour cream available here, or at least not available by delivery -- coconut chia pudding (this ends up very thick and creamy, almost like ice cream, and is really delicious).

Special lunch: Cauli lemak. People are VERY sensitive about their rice in these parts, so you'd better not let Uncle Roger hear of this. But if you're on a low-carb eating plan, and you love nasi lemak, this (in my humble opinion) is a very fine second-best. I hope it can be judged as reverential adaptation, rather than cultural appropriation... To make the rice-substitute, I used mashed cauliflower, mixed with coconut cream and a couple of spoonfuls of coconut flour. I thought it tasted pretty good. The rest was as per normal nasi lemak: sambal (I should have made more); boiled egg, ikan bilis, peanuts, and cucumber.

Special dinner: Delivered from the Little Oriental Cafe, to make a change. We ordered six dishes, which we stretched over three days: bitter gourd with salted egg; black pepper beef; cangkuk manis with egg; Mongolian chicken; eggplant with salted fish; and pork with ginger.

It was also major-beer night (that's when we have a bottle each, as opposed to minor-beer night, when we just have a can). And we started, out of solidarity with New Zealand, one of our periodic runs through Peter Jackson's entire Tolkien saga. One down, five to go...

On ordinary days, as opposed to celebration days, we've been busy with a number of projects: clippering each other's hair; waging war on the ants and drain-flies that appear to have taken up residence since we arrived back; and keeping on top of the grocery ordering.

Masks and gloves at the ready, for when we have to leave the apartment to empty the bins or collect deliveries. So far we've not run into anyone, or touched anything

But we also spend a lot of time looking at roofs and other people's spaces:

And we've had some beautiful skies to enjoy recently:

For all of which we're very grateful.
