Milntown, "the Island's only historic estate", is well worth a visit.

But you have to book to view it, so we stuck to the gardens and the cafe.

Tucked in the shelter of the hills, this place seems to enjoy a really blessed microclimate. I can't remember seeing tree ferns anywhere else in the British Isles, for example...
