We set off early this morning, to avoid the heat. There's always a magical quality to the early hours:

This was our first port of call:

At 0650, most stalls are still setting up. Half an hour later, it's much busier. But we acquired fish porridge and soya milk with no difficulty, and hung around until the toddler-tantrum thunderstorm that broke while we were eating had subsided into a sulky drizzle.

From there we headed for Tanjong Pagar (although we're so unsure of the boundaries of the districts that I can't accurately define what's "on the way" and what's "there").

A highlight of the walk is Duxton Plain Park, once a railway, and now a really brilliant linear park, with places to sit (or sprawl), a resident chicken population, a solitary grave (reputedly possessing special powers), and various art installations:
