We're very fortunate to have extremely nice landlords. We've not seen much of them since we got back from Europe, but we caught up with them today, which also happens to be Malaysia Day.

You can guarantee that any trip in their company will turn into a major culinary event, and this was no exception:

sainah
First up, breakfast, from a Chinese Muslim place that they were interested in trying out

noodles
The "special". Very tasty

market
Next up, Stutong Market, which is bright and airy, and very photogenic

heart
Preparing coconut heart

muachee1
It's called mua chee here, but we first met this in southern Thailand, way back in 2013

muachee2

bananas
So much produce...

wintermelon

paku
Paku, one of the ferns we eat here

midin
Midin, another type of fern

kantan
Bunga kantan, or torch ginger flower

pastries
So many cakes...

chairs
And I always like the random nature of markets here

flasks

porridge
And it's time for refreshment! We shared a barley fu zhu, which is quintessential comfort food. But I'd happily try any of these...

We headed home, well rounded...
