This is a wonderful resource, just a few minutes' drive from Milford. There's a lake; there are woods and meadows; and because it's all on a slope, there are great views. It's not even too muddy (by the current, admittedly low, standards of the season).
Pick a dry, cold, beautiful morning; park up (for free); eat your breakfast (ham sandwiches); and then you're good to go:
Slightly too many dogs for my total comfort, but that's the way it goes in this dog-obsessed country. But most were reasonably under control; none was bothersome; and one had invented a Calvinball type of game, which he insisted on playing with Nigel (the only rule of which seemed to be that the dog never lost possession of the ball).
Nice start to the day.
