Today was the day we were scheduled to hand back our trusty little Toyota. Feisty and economical, this diminutive vehicle injected a nice change of dynamic into our journeying:

We just had a few more hours to exploit him, so we decided to head for Traianopoli, another halt on the ancient Via Egnatia.

Another super-cold morning. But the sun was bright on the ruins of the Roman baths:

Right alongside are the domed baths from the 16th century:

There's a cute little church right next door, and the source of all this bathing activity is very obvious:

On the map, there's also a reference to "Loutra Traianoupolis", a short distance away. But when we got there, the fountain seemed to be under repair, and village was full of dogs that didn't sound particularly welcoming:

So we wiped the dust from our feet, and headed for Antheia, where -- rumour had it -- there was a nice-looking cafe/bakery. Which there was:

cakes
Coffee and two delectable little Greek pastries from the Vagianos bakery/cafe: On the left there's a chocolate one that Nigel can't describe; on the right there's a Greek "cornet", which is basically a cream horn filled with custard and syrup

And then we just had to tank up, and say goodbye to our wheels...
