Another weird week...

Renovations are still ongoing in the flat opposite, so we try to be out during the day. But, of course, we couldn't be out on Tuesday morning, because that was when our stuff was coming out of store (the Prime Global guys, who have been efficient from start to finish, did another really great job).

So the week has been divided into a) daytime: Shopping for necessary items and lurking in cafes, and b) evenings: Running round like cats doing zoomies.

It's the long weekend at the moment (Hari Raya, marking the end of Ramadan, is tomorrow), so we've had two blissful days of going out early to walk and breakfast, and then coming back to a peaceful flat. We'll get two more of those, and then we're back to being digital nomads during the working day.

We're now mostly shipshape (the last items to emerge from hiding were the fridge magnets...), but there are always a couple of tricky jobs that linger. Plus, we've built up another list of odds and bods that we need to acquire, but we don't want to waste our precious quiet time shopping, so they'll have to wait until Wednesday.

So... The week in pictures:

t&t
We spent most of Monday at the Think & Tink complex. There's a little gallery here, a nice bookshop, and -- of course -- Indah

There's an exhibition on at the moment, called On Reciprocity. This is by Wishulada Panthanuvong

tribalmonday
Indah's Monday menu: This is their terong assam chicken, with red rice, lots of veggies, and a yummy sambal

tang
We seem to have spent years at Vivacity lately... A good bet for lunch is Madam Tang's and her prawn wantons (which come stuffed like pillows, and floating in a very tasty broth)

orange
Orange coffee from Earthlings

madeleines
Yummy madeleines from Moon and Sun. And for much more on madeleines, see my post here...

tom
Loving the Hari Raya outfits on Tom and Jerry at Aeon...

Some more of Kuching's picturesque cats

This is now my favourite route back from town

We're still enjoying our views

entrance
Just to give you a bit of a guided tour... This is the entrance area (with guardian tiki), plus dining area. In the background are the drinks-making enclave (Nigel's domain), and the door to the outside laundry area. Our building, people keep telling us, is one of the oldest condos in Kuching, constructed in an era when people believed in space (though not necessarily in electrical sockets)

clock
Still not totally sure what to do with the clock...

sofas
The formal sofa area

animals
The animals found the sofa very skiddy, but they feel much more secure now they're perched on a cushion

loungers
This is what Nigel calls the pina colada area. It's currently our favourite evening vantage-point

kitchen
The kitchen. Still a work in progress. Several appliances have changed position even since I took this

door
A kitchen door!! So happy...

office
Our office, complete with IKEA chaise longue (arrived Saturday, touch and go whether it would fit in the lift...)

chaiselongue
A better view of the chaise longue, which is going to run hot, I tell you, with amazing literary productions

utility
Inside and outside utility areas

A fabulous, swallow-all storeroom

And we finally have a nice big guestroom. So the Terns are open for business (within reason...)

It's all a bit retro, but as I said last week, we're loving the space and the airiness. Once all is as reliably quiet as it ever gets in a condo, it will be a lovely place to spend time.

Just another little push of activity, and we'll be sorted. We hope...
