I've already talked about this week's visit to our neighbouring temples.

Otherwise, it has been a week of two halves. One half was the Gawai celebrations (public holidays equal quiet roads and good walking opportunities). The second half was a bit quiet because the Other Tern was a bit crook (but he's perked up a bit now).

On Gawai Monday, we had a really nice walk around the area behind Citadines. Not at all far from us, but pretty much new territory:

There's a cute little cafe, closed that day, but worth trying sometime

And there's a gorgeous little wooden temple

There are two other temple-related buildings there, in various stages of construction, but it's all amazingly rural

Further down the road, there's yet another temple, with very cool doors

All very picturesque, though doggier than I would have chosen.

Moving on, and you go past the Islamic Information Centre. We've been here for various talks, but I don't think we've ever seen it in daylight...

So we're back on Jalan Rock by now, and it's great to see that the Indian temple is now making real progress. We've been following this project for years, and it was badly knocked back by covid

On to Saberkas, a commercial centre primarily dedicated to electronics. In all our years in Kuching, this was our first visit... It goes back to the mid-1980s, this one, and it's starting to look a tad run down. But it has made an effort for Gawai:

It does cold drinks

And there are cool views

We rounded off this little expedition with lunch at the Garden Bing, and a quick visit to Kozi Square (also our first time):

So that was a pretty nice Gawai.

We also had a surprisingly photogenic walk around Chonglin Park, which is where we briefly stayed when we first got back:

You can always trust a cat to find a comfy spot on a sofa...

And now for the rest of the week's gallery:

machalatte
I had to include this stunningly beautiful macha latte from Moon and Sun...

kelapa
And a kelapa coffee (made with coconut water) from Cohomo (Green Heights)

thunder
We're getting regular thunderstorms at the moment, which make for dramatic skyscapes

palmfruit
And the palm fruit on the tree outside our apartment building is looking splendid

And so another week rolls by...
