We're still having fun playing the tourist in KL (along with finishing dull things like marking, doing a rather sad round of goodbyes, and getting ready to leave, which is what we do tomorrow).

Favourite things this week, in roughly chronological order:

1.
Eating cendol durian on Jalan Raja Alang, as the evening turned to night.

2.
Watching the river run (it's taken a while, but the River of Life programme is really starting to pay dividends in the centre of KL).

3.
Watching Chinese New Year take over the retail scene (Christmas is so yesterday...)

4.
Enjoying the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra's "New Year's Waltz" evening (this was a fun programme of totally toe-tapping Vienna-inspired music).

5.
Visiting the National Mosque.

It's the same story as with Masjid Jamek. As KL residents, we'd just never got round to going... As "tourists", we just had to. Despite quite a number of Sunday trippers, it was serene and inspiring.

As soon-to-be-former KL residents, we can't help feeling a bit low about moving. We've very much enjoyed the years we've lived here. There's so much we'll miss.

But you can't be a Purple Tern by hanging around in one place for too long.

Big OE here we come...
