Unfortunately, we chose to land back in KL in a week when the MPO is not performing...

But another of our favourite cultural venues did turn up trumps: The Ilham Gallery with its "Fracture/Fiction" exhibition.

As the website puts it: "Fracture/Fiction invites visitors to contemplate how artists address the fractures that exist in society and the age in which they live. These artists often engage with the subject matter from their everyday lives, transforming them through their art to subvert and create fictions, often in unexpectedly beautiful ways."

That's the trick for the whole of life, right?

There will always be fractures, disconnects, painful experiences of severance. So grind the fractures into a million tiny pieces, and then put them together again.

Differently. Uniquely. Beautifully.

In other news, the world around us continues to turn red, white, blue, and yellow, as the Jalur Gemilang is hoisted everywhere.

We continue to enjoy the Malaysian favourites we've been missing since mid-April. Asam laksa... Teh tarik... Bouncy pork-ball noodles... Lam mee...

And, because it's KL, we continue to find things that are new to us. As we always did.

Either you've never seen it, or you've seen it but not noticed it looking quite like this...
