Well, how quickly things change...
When we set off on our latest excursion, just over six weeks ago, the "coronavirus" (which causes a disease now named COVID-19) was just not that big a deal. Kuching airport was worried about malaria and swine fever. Dubai Airport was worried about security. Nobody was in our faces about COVID-19.
But not any more...
We're anxiously monitoring developments, wondering if, and by how much, our plans for the next few weeks should change.
And what's happened to Malaysia since we left??
The government has imploded. There's fear and disappointment in the air, and no-one quite knows how it's all going to end.
It's inexpressibly sad, after the high hopes of 2018.
So, we don't know how our travel plans will pan out, and we don't know what we're heading back to.
Awesome...
It's been a glowingly purple month, full of interest and reward...
Nevertheless, the external uncertainty eats away at my equilibrium.
My reflections of late have led me to think about knowing and not knowing. Surely, the world at the moment pulls the rug from under any pretence to knowledge that we might stupidly have been nursing...
Let's hope we're all still alive and solvent when it comes to reviewing next month...
