Skegness has been a regular staple on our UK trips for a good long while now. So, in terms of comment, I've pretty much said it all already. The town still struggles economically, and is now divided over the challenge of integrating asylum seekers. Underneath all the razzmatazz on the surface, there's a lot of pain.
But it's undeniably a fun place for a day out. It plays the Traditional Seaside Town card with all its might, utterly unabashed, and you just can't help liking its OTT exuberance.
At the tail end of the school holidays, the town was pretty lively. We had bright, sunny weather (albeit with Skeggy's trademark bracing wind). We did all the traditional things: had chips for lunch, mooched in the shops, sat on the prom, walked the seafront, licked ice creams...
All I can really add is some pictures:
What larks...
