When you've lived in a place for a while, it's particularly nice to get a fresh view of it. And that's what happened today.
We're fairly often on the northern bank of the Sarawak River, but it has only recently become possible to walk along in front of the Parliament building (the DUN), or climb the big set of steps that took so long to build.
And today we did all that. It went like this:
Pass St Joseph's on your way to breakfast
Head off over the pedestrian bridge, as usual
And then you're in wholly new territory, seeing the south bank as you've never seen it before...
You can get up close and personal with the fountain workings...
... and the big bird
You can see the DUN in a whole new way
Ditto the flagpole
Then you go past the fort to the little village we're familiar with
And complete the circuit along the riverfront
Because it's Kuching, you're bound to find a cat in residence
And on the way back we caught some of the event that took
Sarawak into the Malaysia Book of Records "for the most participants in ethnic attire in a choreographed dance performance"
Because it was Car Free Sunday, you have to do a lap of the Padang, which is wonderful when stripped of everything motorized. And after all that you definitely need one of Indah's big iced lattes
Then home, after an excellent morning's work.
