The hire car -- the one that took us to Beliong on Monday, and on our epic road trip to Sri Aman from Tuesday to Thursday -- was ours until 10 o'clock this morning.
So we decided to take our breakfast up to Pasir Pandak.
The roads were wet, dark, and busy to start with (we left home at 6 am, which is when hundreds of parents are ferrying their offspring to their respective schools).
And it was still pretty gloomy when we got to the beach (I should say "eventually got to the beach" because we had one of Google's bum steers to contend with first). As the little shelters were on the leaky side, and the seats were wet, we stayed in the car to eat our cheese buns (which were excellent because we stocked up on decent cheese at Ta Kiong yesterday).
But by the time we'd finished breakfast, the rain had eased sufficiently to allow a misty little walk. The colour of the sand here is really beautiful, and the low cloud definitely lent atmosphere.
You can walk through the village to the next beach, which seems to enjoy more favour with boat owners:
And talking of boats, you have to love this one:
This little expedition turned out to be an excellent way to make the most of our last hours on wheels (for this month anyway).
So I think it's fitting to close with a car shot:
