I repented here of running heritage stories into the general Gazette posts. So to avoid doing that again, I'll just mention a couple of heritage-related things from this week.

Entitled "I Love Kuching", the picture by Leonard Siaw above is another in the "History on the Wall" series, an initiative aimed at recording the city's history in murals.

Featured are a young woman who has become an inspirational figure after recovering from an illness, and a ginger cat (the feline is there because it's Kuching, of course, and it's ginger because that represents gold and symbolizes luck).

Siaw (who, I presume, is the one in the cherry-picker putting a few finishing touches to his work) talks about some of his previous murals here. He's largely self-taught, but amazingly talented.

I've mentioned the Kuching Old Bazaar project a couple of times, and refer here to recent murals, signage, and literature featuring Carpenter Street and environs.

Well, Episode 3 of the Kuching Old Bazaar video series came out this week. (I've linked to the previous episodes before, but here they are again: 1 and 2.)

I find these quite fascinating. There are so many stories in those streets that we pace so frequently. Well worth watching.

And finally, our early-morning walk today gave us nice, lit-up views of the restored museum:
