We've been at home since last Friday, so we've seen an awful lot of the above view... Good job it's a pretty one...
Unless something goes wildly wrong before the end of the day, we should be free from our covid isolation tomorrow.
By Tuesday we'd seen the last of the sore throats. I fancied my taste was a bit off for a few days, but I might be mistaken, as it seems fine again now. The worst remaining aspect is the cough. It wakes me up, so I end up always tired. And we haven't felt we can sit out on our balcony (don't want to annoy and/or alarm the neighbours).
We've been way less sick than people were at the beginning of the epidemic. We've had to endure none of the horror scenarios of fever, breathlessness, and so on. Nevertheless, given that we're fully and recently vaccinated, I've been surprised by how rough it has been...
Definitely best avoided.
So it's depressing to read that immunity might last as little as 28 days, each repeat infection raises the risk of long covid, and really nobody has got much handle on what's happening...
How are we going to live like this?
Anyway, there's not much to report. Twice a day we fill in our Home Assessment Tool. The only vague amusement there is speculating whether the equipment will beep as it's supposed to (it all seems oddly erratic in the beeps department).
We've been eating reasonably well, as I'd been able to fill the freezer since getting back from our European travels. It was really great having lots of soup available when the throats were feeling horrible.
The absence of eggs also led me to hunt for alternative bread recipes.
This flax seed bread (I did the oven-baked version) was tasty but a little crumbly (I'm not an expert in flax seed, and suspect I might have used the wrong kind):
This one, on the other hand, was a huge success. I don't have a loaf tin, so I made it up as six large buns -- fantastic!
So... Yet another sorry chapter in the infinitely tedious covid story is behind us.
Quite what happens now I have no idea.
