We spend a fair amount of time, all things considered, in Kuching's many and various culinary establishments. Food and drink definitely constitute one of the great pleasures of living here, and I feel a shout-out for our favourite places of the last few weeks -- new and old, posh and plain -- is long overdue.
The Kuching branch of The Coffee Code is a nice place to revisit when you have a car handy:
Lagom is out in MetroCity Matang (opposite the huge Fauziah foodcourt, which needs to be visited sometime). It's a good place to have a compensatory coffee when your night walk has been postponed because of high winds:
Brew, which we've been to before, is in the same neck of the woods (nice brownies...)
Still benefiting from our hire car, we were excited to discover a new Black Bean outlet! We're big fans of their Sarawak Liberica coffee, so we're regulars at the Carpenter Street branch, and pop into the La Promenade branch whenever we're out that way. But there's another one! At Tabuan Desa. Which also sells nice home-made yogurt:
We had our 36th wedding anniversary coffee and cheesecake at Zoey's:
And we've also been back to Bing's Garden Cafe (nice chicken croissant):
In terms of new kopitiams, we liked D'Nor's Sarawakian-style "fast food", and at MYR 13 for two plates and two drinks, it's quite a bargain.
And we also tried out the pork leg rice at D.J.H. Food Court 2.0, just because it had smelt so delicious when we went past the other week. Tender and flavoursome, it lived up to its promise:
And finally, it was good to revisit La Boca Ria, as we've not been for a while. It's always pleasant to get that little hit of Spain. At the top of the post is my excellent Serrano ham and Manchego cheese sandwich, which comes with patatas bravas.
We're spoiled really...
