The big events of the last week or so were, of course, the
temple parade and
associated opera.
Otherwise, it has been business as usual:
1. Eating noodles, drinking tea...
Always busy, this place...
Sarawak laksa normal (very good)
Excellent kolo mee at Glory Corner
We hadn't been to
Jing-Si Books and Cafe for absolutely ages. But now we know they do hojicha lattes, we'll be back lots...
Always a restful place
2. Learning stuff
New Lease of Life, organized by the Sarawak Heritage Society, was a very informative seminar on the adaptive reuse of old buildings. This is one of the speakers, Shin Chang
What it's all about
One of the featured reworkings: The museum at Sungai Buloh's former leprosy settlement (not there when we visited in
2016)
Really must get back to KL to check out this stuff...
3. Keeping updated
Checking out progress on the revamp of the reputedly haunted
Impiana.
This is how it used to look when we overlooked it from our
quarantine quarters4. Cat-spotting
Literally, cats on a hot tin roof
A variation on the curtain game that was so popular with our felines (cat on one side attempts to biff cat on other side)
And it looks like we have a winner...
Note the nice blue sky in this picture, taken just a couple of days ago. Sadly, today, we're back with the dreaded smoke pollution. We didn't even go out for a walk this morning. Walking has little appeal when the whole city smells like an overflowing ashtray. When we had an episode of this earlier in the month, it didn't last too long. Really hoping we'll be soon shot of this bout too.
