As I've already suggested, there's no telling how our immediate environment will look in a few years' time, if developers start to get their hands on some of those vacant lots...
But at the moment, it's very pleasant.
The neighbourhood is low-key and very diverse -- a mixture of low-rise housing, small businesses (car repairers, tile shops, that kind of thing), and the odd patch of land on which things may or may not be growing (eg, the papayas in the picture at the top).
To the far left, as we look out of our front window, is a little commercial enclave. The businesses aren't especially useful for us, but there are food courts that we need to try out. To the far right, pretty much out of our eye line, a large block of "luxury residences" is reaching skyward from its foundations.
Dotted around are some particularly noteworthy buildings:
It will all change. No neighbourhood can be set in aspic. But I'd like to keep ours the way it is for just a bit longer... We'll see...
