This is our sixth day in Dumaguete, and so far it's massively exceeded our expectations.

It's quite the food hub (more on that later).

And it is a great place to walk (a quality that always raises a locality enormously in our estimation). There's not too much traffic; it moves relatively slowly, and is fairly easy to get away from; and there are a reasonable number of pavements.

As you amble, you can take in interesting buildings:

We've seen so many "do not park in front of the gate" signs that you'd swear parking in front of gates was a national pastime

The town is backed by wonderful mountains (although they're very difficult to photograph):

All told, it's a sweet spot, and just what we needed.
