It's been one of those weeks that end up full of not particularly interesting jobs. Which I'm going to talk about anyway...
Monday was Aeon Mall day.
What was planned: Buy some sort of storage arrangement that could tame the muddle in the wardrobe; buy cups to replace the increasingly grotty ones that just won't clean up any longer; buy spare cups so that when we break one (which we inevitably will, being breaky kind of people), we're not down to the bare minimum.
What actually happened: We bought a combo of boxes and a drawer unit; I unexpectedly spotted a good-value, good-quality frying-pan set, and bought one of those; and we bought four cups. Then we wheeled our loaded trolley into the lift; the wheels stuck in the groove at the lift door; and the front-most package somersaulted off the cart and onto the floor. Of course, that was the package with the cups in it... So before we'd even exited the building, we'd broken one... Sigh... It's a good thing we don't buy expensive stuff... Anyway, the storage thingies are awesome, and I swear Marie Kondo herself would give our wardrobe a big tick.
Wednesday was hospital day.
What was planned: Imaging at 8.30; consultation at 10.30.
What actually happened: A bit of a snafu when someone thought I needed an ultrasound (I didn't); free coffee and toast in a very pleasant lounge area; quite a long wait; on the way home by 12.05, a bit exhausted (we're still struggling with post-covid tiredness), but bearing no horrible news.
Friday was computer-hospital day.
What was planned: Nothing. This was completely unexpected. My computer keyboard just suddenly stopped working this morning... I know -- it's not five minutes since I had the last repair done (in Kuala Lumpur on the way home, when they fitted a new screen). And now it's sick again. I love this little computer, actually. It's probably my favourite of all the laptops I've owned. But really -- so much trouble, lah.
What actually happened: We took it to the repair place (luckily it's still under warranty); and they ordered the part (which will have to come from KL). Fortuitously, the repair place is near Green Heights Mall, so we took advantage of the trip to have a nice brunch at Wonderboom, and buy some stuff from Mady's Organic Food Store. Once home, I started using Nigel's old computer (lucky we'd kept it). It has a totally defunct battery (as it keeps telling me), and is a bit clunky. But at least I have a machine to use.
OK, so that's the faffy (though not entirely negative) bit of the week over with.
Just the rest of the food to tell you about now:
Thursday was one of our "dining club" nights, when we join up with a couple of friends to chat and eat. This week's choice was Hua San:
Such tasty food, and so reasonable... Tofu soup (with a nice, rice-wine-enhanced broth); eggplant; bitter gourd; black pepper chicken; and -- piece de resistance -- a black pomfret, fried so crispy-crackly that you could eat everything, bones and all. And all this, plus drinks for four, came to MYR 68 (less than GBP 13).
This week's new breakfast was (drumroll):
